A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a current administration.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, provided by a first responder, was christened after the current slang trend of young people shouting “6-7” – originating from a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The trend became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the holiday season,” said the event host, in a decidedly positive message.

“It captures the spirit of Miami: happy, multicultural, and based in heritage that unite the community. Annually, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
