Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
