Locating a Venezuela-linked Tanker Reportedly Pursued by American Maritime Authorities

A uniquely yellow-fronted apartment block in the background helped us locate the footage.
We are verifying video footage and photographs circulated earlier today that depict the scene of a reported car bomb explosion that authorities in Russia say killed a senior soldier in Moscow.
Russian authorities confirmed that Lt Gen Fanil Sarvarov was in the vehicle that exploded and that he later died to his wounds. A probe is under way.
The initial step to check the site from which the images originated relied on posts saying the blast happened on Yasenevaya Street in the southern district of the capital city of Russia.
Our analysis employed panoramic mapping services on digital map platforms and the local mapping service Yandex Maps to match the unique yellow colour of a nearby apartment building captured in the footage.
Locating additional buildings, lamp-posts and the road configuration verified where the footage were taken.
We also checked that the video clips were recent and that the visuals had not been manipulated.
