Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old presenter was confronted by three individuals, one of whom opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.
The reason behind the attack is unknown and no one has been arrested have taken place, police said.
The Fatal Incident
Police revealed that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a location close to the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the building overseeing the installation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, according to reports.
"It is alleged the deceased was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," authorities stated.
Security camera video reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what resembled a security uniform opening fire on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and nothing was taken during the incident.
Important clues, like bullet casings, were recovered from the crime scene.

Authorities have requested eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.
"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the shooting, and police have been attempting to locate them to find their destination," added an official.
Outpouring of Grief
His family member, a close relative, said the loved ones are reeling to understand the tragedy.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she stated.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He addressed issues courageously about topics not many people were willing to tackle. This is a tremendous loss."
She appealed to the community to not sharing explicit content from the incident, explaining this was an incredibly difficult time, especially for Stock's young family.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that aired on a South African TV network.
Beyond his work in broadcasting, Stock was engaged in various commercial activities, including private security, supplying VIP protection services and securing prestigious gatherings across South Africa.
He was also said to be engaged in property management and assisted with tenant removals.

His murder has caused national trauma and triggered an flood of condolences from his fans, the authorities and political parties.
A senior figure remarked he was angry and saddened by Stock's murder.
"He expressed his views without fear or favour. He even criticized me and my actions as a minister. He was a true embodiment of who we should be," the minister added.
A public representative commented the "brazen murder of DJ Warras in the middle of the day is a tragedy for all South Africans".
A broadcasting director noted that "DJ Warras was more than just a TV personality. He was a skilled narrator, a true devotee of sound and a kind-hearted individual who brought joy and energy to every performance. His artistic passion left an profound impact."
In a communication, the network he worked for said Stock was known for his magnetism, warmth and quick humor, adding that his memory "will be remembered".
