Palestinian-American Teenager Released Following Nine Months in Israeli Custody

A American-Palestinian adolescent after completing nine months in Israeli detention without charge was released.
The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 at the time of his arrest this past winter within the occupied West Bank, during a family visit on holiday from Florida for allegedly throwing stones against settlement residents, which he previously denied.
American diplomatic officials said it welcomed the teenager's freedom.
Now sixteen years old, needed medical care for treatment immediately after release, family members reported.
They said he is showing signs of malnutrition, and is suffering from conditions developed during imprisonment.
Via family representatives, Mohammed's uncle spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".
Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "living a horrific and endless nightmare" over the last nine months.
"Currently, we are focused on getting Mohammed the immediate medical attention he needs following exposure to harsh conditions and cruel circumstances for months."
The state department announced ongoing to offer diplomatic assistance to Mohammed's family.
{"American leadership gives utmost importance to ensuring the safety for United States citizens"," the department emphasized.
Twenty-seven US lawmakers endorsed a document to US authorities and the administration, requesting additional efforts to secure his release.
Mr Ibrahim, parent of four children who runs an ice cream business from Florida, had earlier stated his son only confessed regarding stone throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.
The father hadn't visited or spoken to Mohammed since the arrest, and only heard about his son's condition in detention through court documents.
He stayed without charge in Ofer prison in the West Bank.
The facility also contains grown detainees, some of whom have been convicted of serious terrorism offences including killings.
There are around several hundred young Palestinian detainees detained within Israeli facilities, based on prison authority data.
Numerous remain uncharged and human rights groups, and international organizations, report instances of mistreatment and torture.
Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said the family would also continue fighting demanding accountability for their family member family member Sayfollah.
This young American-Palestinian according to health authorities died from beating by Israeli settlers during a confrontation last July.
At the time, military authorities reported authorities were looking into accounts of a Palestinian had been killed.
